We purchased our first home through the Credit Union of So Cal and the process was AMAZING! We worked with Maria Perez, and she is a true professional! We were first time home buyers and were nervous about the process. Maria was great at explaining everything to us, and guided us through every step. I highly recommend working with Maria if you are planning on purchasing a home. Thank you!

Most despicable person name Nancy plays the boss here, stressing me on what should have been a simple deposit, mishandled it so badly I end up paying over $100 in penalty, not even a lick of saying sorry but instead sends me a letter of reprimand for getting upset over it? I need to see these repulsively undertrained and misinforming, and mistreating clients and mishandling to absolutely ruin the trust between both parties in the worst way possible type of group of people fired or I am filing a lawsuit against their scamming me. Nancy who's supposely the branch manager there omg, Efrain the muscle at the desk, Kevin the most incompetent and ridiculously derisive and idiotic teller I ever had to have handle my banking transactions for me. You three plus the slanderous persona named Lily over the phone call Efrain called as their back up to fight me you 4 should all be fired. You do not deserve to work at such a place where the clients should be able to trust you with their money, you guys are absolutely not it. OH MY GOODNESS these people are frustrating.

It took me awhile to write this review but I think it’s finally time. Credit Union of Southern California on the front end is GREAT! They have very great service & are always ready to help out. But what I’ve learned in the past few months is on the back end it’s another story.
I never thought a credit union especially this one that raves about member service would be so different on the back end. Long story short I fell behind on my credit card & loan due to being off work for while, when I tell you most of the collections department treated me like trash!! Like I was nothing. I even went to the El Monte branch and the branch manager, Nancy I think her name is laughed in my face and made me cry in my car because my account had went negative.
I would’ve never thought this would happen at this credit union I loved so much.
I have another CU that worked with me through my payments and refinanced my loans into one to bring me update to date and let me keep my rate, they really helped me out and made it all better and took stress off of me as a member. I would’ve definitely expected that for CUSOCAL but instead I was met with horrible threats for the collections department (not all of them Amanda and Ervin are the sweetest). Also, my credit card is closed but I’m still getting late fees & interest charges. While yes they may be in paperwork I signed in just shocked that they wouldn’t do more to help me out since I’ve been in contact with them doing what I can when I can.
I hope other members don’t have to deal with this headache especially when you’re already going through so much. I pray this would change, I love this credit union but once everything is paid off, I’m sure I’ll close my account. That might not matter but at least I know I spoke up and hopefully things change for the next person that’s facing things in their life. Remember life can happen to all of us no person is better than the next.
BE KIND.

update

The marketing team replied to the above review fast & asked me to email so they can handle this promptly. I did as they asked and I have received a reply yet. I still have hope in the credit union. But it seems like they just wanted to reply on here for and not do anything. Let’s see.

As you can see nothing was done & none of my issues were really addressed of the member service that I received. Instead I was once again met with a condescending statement about credit counseling. I hope this serves as a notice to anyone thinking of becoming a member. It’s how they treat you when you fall on tough times that matter most.

BE AWARE OF CUNA DEBT PROTECT
When I refinance my car, I noticed that my car balance was increasing $25 per month, which I found it shocking since I never heard that term in the refinancing agreements, turns out that it is an extra insurance that if a credit user from the car passes away, they pay the car as well. My car was not very expensive, so I did not find it necessary. If you don't want to be charged $25 extra, be aware of the cuna debt protect in your account statements. Polite people, low interest rates. I recommend coming here to refinance but be aware of extra charges.

Why have 5 teller stalls and have only 1 teller. Bank is empty with only 1 other person here. Yet I'm still waiting 15+ minutes. This bank is getting worse by the year. The old bank on concert had great customer service and tellers.

Worst experience I have ever had at bank branch. We had heard great things about credit unions but from this experience I'm not sure this branch deserves the stars it has. I was looking to open a joint account with my wife and had called the previous day to find out all requirements. One of them was that my wife and myself had to be there at the same time to sign. We both took the time off early from work to make sure we arrived at least 30 min before it closed. When we arrived we were barely acknowledged at told to sit and wait for assistance. We waited until 6:05 PM closing time and it looked like the only 2 account specialist were having social hour and just waiting for us to get tired of waiting and walk out which we did. Again not such as a word as we walked out, then noticed the employees leaving aswell right after us as we were still in the parking lot. The worst 40 wasted minutes of my life, never again!
