Without a doubt the worst customer service of any bank. Went in to confirm a transaction would go through. Was told not to worry without ever looking at our account. Well guess what, it wouldn’t go through as it needed prior authorization. What a joke of a bank

Wow what a bunch of films flam artists. I have never experienced a company full of people who say one thing and do another. My son just got his first job and I brought him down to the Carlsbad location to open checking and savings accounts. We were told we would get Legoland tickets which we never got. There is some sort of spending limit on the account that cannot be bypassed even though when we set up the account they asked me if we wanted a spending limit which I said no. When you call customer service you get people telling you different things. First agent said that I set up the spending limit and that they could do a one-time exception. But that I had to go down to the branch that I opened the account at to remove it permanently. Then another gentleman gets on the phone and says there are no exceptions and as long as he is under 18, he will never be able to spend more than $300 in a day and that it's Visa not sdccu that sets the limit. Contacting Visa I confirmed that this gentleman is a liar. I have never been so disappointed in a financial institution. I don't know how they have any customers. I thought Bank of America was bad but these people take the cake. Don't trust them.

Tellers here are very nice, but they need to replace the manager. Her mannerisms are abrasive, inflexible, and unprofessional. I understand the need to uphold policy but there is a way to explain it that shows the "member" that you care. In the most recent incident with the manager, the teller approached her to ask her a question and the manager rolled her eyes and spoke about me as if I wasn't standing right there. She didn't bother coming over to talk to me. Even the teller looked embarrassed by her manager and whispered that she would waive the fee. SDCCU advertises that they arent Big banking and that they have members. I have accounts at Big banks and the managers there have never once treated me like this brash lady did. If this were a one time instance, I could understand, but I've seen her act this way with other members on multiple occasions. I hope the district manager sees this review and finally takes action as this manager seems miserable in her position. Please promote one of the very pleasant tellers and turn the branches reputation around!

We have been banking with SDCCU for almost 24 years. It used to be great and highly recommended. It has changed a lot in just the past few years. Maybe they have gotten too big which has affected customer service (management was very rude), accessibility, and customer experience for the worse? If you notice, the higher reviews are from years ago.

If there was less than one star to leave, believe me, I would leave less than one star because this ENTIRE organization has completely failed! We recently moved back to Southern CA after 25 years. I went to try to open an account at the Vista Way location. Hilda was extremely rude and could care less in helping us. We left disappointed in the poor treatment! A few days later, we tried to open an account at the Carlsbad location. It was even WORSE! 25 years ago when we moved away, I didn't close an account I had with SDCCU. The account was less than $10.00. SDCCU charged me a small amount of interest a month for 25 years totaling $197.00. Which I gladly paid the day I tried to open the account at the Carlsbad location. The upsetting part is when Amber lectured me about how this would help my credit. Really Amber That was 25 years ago! Educate yourself! We just sold a few properties back home and we will never bring our money here! The manager was involved and did nothing! Amber and the manager kept gossiping about me in front of me! I left feeling discriminated and judged over a $10 balance. I felt disgusted by such UNPROFESSIONALISM! Shame on you SDCCU.

STOLE MY MONEY. i can’t believe a bank can even steal money from you. i cashed my check from work and the teller said they could only give me $225 in cash and deposit the rest on my card which i was fine with, however the rest of my money was never deposited in my account so i told them and they said i received the full amount in cash which is incorrect due to the $225 policy even though they have a policy they must follow the manager told me i was incorrect and that i did receive all that cash even though that is against their policy. i don’t know how they make that make sense in their mind but all i was told is we stole money from you get over it. the manager said i’d have to have legal council in order to see the security footage which is incorrect another branch told me that is ridiculous so i don’t know if the manager is engaging in misconduct with this teller wink wink but that’s the impression i got from it since they’re willing to go this far for the $35 dollars they owe me. don’t come here they will STEAL YOUR MONEY

I have been banking with SDCCU for over 3 years now for my auto loans, and I am continually impressed with the high levels of customer service and attention-to-detail. The Carlsbad branch in particular is located in a convenient shopping plaza with ample parking, and it is very well run by the manager and staff, even as the stringent Covid-19 measures have led to longer wait times.

Everyone has been really supportive of my goal to pay off the car ASAP, and they're more than happy to answer my various questions regarding general finance and savings strategies.

Customer service timing is horrific. This is the 4th time that I cannot reach anyone or get a call back when I leave my phone number that "keeps my position in line". I was on hold for an hour and twenty minutes today. I hung up and came to the North Carlsbad Branch. Position 5 in line took me thirty minutes to get inside the credit union to wait in another line of 5 people for a teller. The security guard said four tellers were working; there are two. So I have wasted 2 hours and 30 minutes for a very simple transfer that canmot even be done online.
