We rented from McNamara for two years, we had a good experience, other than not being able to get broken pipes fixed on the weekends they did fix pipes and issues quickly. The head of maintenance guy said I could get reimbursed for water bills because of the broken pipes, but I just never had time to do it. I always treated the girls with respect and they were always helpful to me. We took good care of the property and got our whole security deposit back. It did take a while, I received our whole security deposit back after 26 days of vacating. The reason why I only put four is because the rent raises and we were told it was $500 to break our lease but then when it was time to move, we still had to pay to the end of our lease. I had a tree fall on my house and I’m very grateful for all Gena‘s help getting a roof over my head while I was pregnant.

Lets start this off by saying I had a work order open for TWO years for my deck falling apart. Never once did they contact me to see if they could get access to my unit to fix it. The only time they did something was when they were showing the unit because I decided to move out ( they put a ladder attached to my deck block the car ports of other tenets). Once they signed someone they took the ladder away. The amount of termite damaged to the unit is worrying and they will probably will never fix it. They lied when they showed the unit and said I changed the locks even though they gave me the only two keys to my unit (that is just bad key control). The carpets are detreating and they will not update the windows to modern ones, so I hope you enjoy the single pane windows that don't close and seal all the way. If you read this and are moving to the area just go with someone else, it will be much easier and you will be much happier in the long run. Mc Namara if you are reading this I wish you the best and hope you change. Your tenets help pay your bills and we shouldn't be ignored if we need something or told to just submit something through your portal (cause it won't work). I was told by family not to trust you and I should have listened. Put money into the units so people can live in the units you run.

I lived in SLO the past four years and I’ve never had an issue with property management companies until I rented from McNamara. The women who work in the office aren’t very kind and are all over the place. I called them about a month before my lease ended asking what they needed done before I moved out of their property. They gave me back and forth answers and told me they’re revising their move out check list. Just bad vibes from their workers. Seems like they don’t know what they’re doing.

Don’t recommend. All of the office staff are rude, short, lack communication, go out of there way to not be helpful, and to be quite frank, unpleasant to deal with. It’s obvious they think all of the tenants they deal with are not worth being taken care of and act as if they’re being inconvenienced to deal with you. If you’re dealing with Gina, don’t. All she says is “I don’t know”. Save yourself the trouble and go else where for rentals. Otherwise, document everything you do or say with them to have the proof. There communication SUCKS. Also, they are so clueless. You can have clear cut communication on dates and meet up and they will still screw it up and act like it’s your fault.

after being one of their renters for a year, I almost cried at the prospect of having McNamera be my rental agency for a second year in a row. I celebrated when they managed my account so poorly that I didn't get an apartment through them, even though I had been applied forever. I sincerely wish you the best of luck if this is your rental agency. Watch those snakes on your security deposit. They know they're renting to students who've never rented before and TAKE SO MUCH ADVANTAGE OF YOU. wish I could give 0 stars, truly an abysmal company with a terrible viewpoint of their clients/renters

The staff helped me find a unit that worked best for me. They give you a tour of the exact unit you will be living in before you make the decision to sign a lease, so you don’t have to sign the lease if you have issues with the unit/price. I rented from them and was able to get my deposit back. The office staff was very helpful when I needed assistance with anything. The maintenance staff was very quick to respond to maintenance requests. The apartment complex I lived in (Foothill Gardens) was very close to Cal Poly so there was some noise from the houses nearby, which is expected for the location. I enjoyed living there and location was an added plus. They were overall a good company to rent from.

The staff at the office and the people I was in contact with were all very pleasant, especially Gina and Melissa. I didn't have any major problems renting with McNamara and even when they said they couldn't schedule showings around my preferences they still managed to, but the only negatives I have were with the guy doing my final house inspection (extremely rude, polar opposite of everyone else) and my security deposit.

First, they charged me for 40% of the cost of painting when it clearly states it should be 33% in my lease, if I wasn't paying attention I would have eaten that charge. Secondly, I had the place professionally cleaned and then scheduled a pre-inspection in the hopes that I wouldn't get too much taken out of my security deposit. They didn't find any problems on my pre-inspection but when my deposit was returned they had a $360 professional cleaning charge (I was only charged for $180) for dusty light fixtures (some with bugs), sink faucet calcium, and a dirty shower handle. Not sure how that warrants a $360 job but for any future tenants keep this in mind.
