I had the pleasure of working with Taylor Garcia at J & J insurance and I recommend him highly to others. I was brand new to the idea of offering insurance as a small business owner and he walked me through every step. He made finding insurance feel simple and clear. My 104 year old mother lives in a 115 year old home and has had a home owners policy from SAFECO through this company for many years. The home has a pea gravel over hot mop roof. Recently, SAFECO sent a letter saying the homeowners policy was being cancelled due to algae, moss, mildew and mold on the roof. This was based on some type of satellite or aerial image, not an actual inspection. Yes, the roof has some thinning spots, but there is zero algae, moss, mildew or mold on the roof. The roof was recently inspected in the last month and there is none of the issues that SAFECO used as the reason to cancel her policy. The agent, May Tempongko, has no clue about the roof's condition, simply saying that most people would just clean the roof. Well, you can't clean a pea gravel roof. She even said that she and an associate were unable to detect any of the concerns that SAFECO claims are the reasons for cancelling the policy. I am used to dealing with agents that like to keep clients, not simply write them off. I feel that May has done very little, if any, to keep this business. I certainly would not do business with Jackson and Jackson after allowing one of their underwriters, SAFECO, to make a very false claim in order to cancel the policy. Take your business elsewhere.

Update 1/6/2025
After a few emails, back and forth with the president of Jackson and Jackson, I belive that J and J are on the receiving end of an on-going and apparent problem in the California insurance industry today. They are merely the agents, and it's the insurance companies themselves that are coming up with "make believe" reasons for getting out of California. An article in a local newspaper yesterday sites a pending class-action suit against Liberty Mutual for cancelling a policy due to "excessive mold, mildew, algae and moss" on the roof of a home near San Diego. This is the exact same reason SAFECO gave for cancelling the homeowners policy on my mom's home. The insurance companies simply want out of California for a variety of reasons and they aren't being very cooperative with the agents who write their business. So, while J and J wasn't very helpful initially through this cancellation procedure, I now understand their hands are somewhat tied and often times it is out of their control. Blame the big companies, not the agents. I now change my rating from one star to four stars.

Taylor helped me get my health plan at the time and was patient enough to explain what each of those terms were since it was my first time ever getting a health plan. I went through their website. I uploaded all kinds of information that I don’t hand out very easily. I trusted the brand I looked at the reviews. I did it their way and Man it was a mistake. Instead of getting to business I get questioned why am I looking for insurance? Like that has got to be the stupidest introductory question ever! The question is not why I need insurance. The question is, how can I help you obtain the insurance and coverages you need. Nobody needs the why! We need the how can I help you when we reach out to your company? After I told the person whom asked me the ridiculous question what I thought of his question. He replied, he would get back to me. It’s been 24 hours with no response at all. Very disappointing.

I reached out to Taylor for some home & auto quotes to see where I could bundle & save. I am new to being a homeowner so I had just about a million questions regarding homeowners insurance. I also am extremely technical and was going through a ton of comparisons & scenarios making sure I could get the best coverage at the best price. Taylor was beyond patient with me and taught me so much! He was also able to find some gaps in my current (at the time) home coverage that I was unaware of and helped me to understand where there was risk. I am so happy to have now switched my coverage and confident I will be well taken care of now.

As a side note, I was shopping many different companies myself as well and Jackson & Jackson was by far the most attentive & on point with everything. They had such a easy and streamlined process! I love the one on one service you get instead of being passed around to 10 different people and needing to re-answer the same questions a million times always getting different quotes from different people within the same company for the same house or car. It made no sense and makes you feel like if there ever was a need for a claim you would just be lost in the mix. With Jackson & Jackson I spoke to only Taylor the whole time and never had to repeat myself.
