Ive had inswith Mutual savings now Kemper Life since 1988, and my family has had insurance much longer. I had 3 policies with Kemper Life, 2 cancer policies and a life insurance policy. These policies have been collected for via a debit, the insurance agent comes around and collect the premiums every month, but in most cases, they have such a high turnover of agents it’s never the same agent, and they may come monthly or every other month or every three months as you can see from my card they’ve collected up to three months at one time. We let them come to our business because it was more convenient for them. We moved our business about a mile down the road and the agent that came and collected in July did not notate the address change but our phone number remained the same as did our cell numbers. anyway the agent instead of trying to call came to our home and instead of coming to the front door, he came to the Back door and there’s no doorbell back there so I didn’t hear him knock. By the time I noticed the card he had left in the door, because I don’t go in and out the back door, it had been there a week. I called and left a message but didn’t hear from him. A week went by so I called again and I got in touch with him. He tells me that the day after he came out to my home our policies lapsed, mine could be reinstated but my husbands could not and I don’t understand that either because like I said they’ve collected as much as three months at a time in the past and he came out here the last day or last few days in August and this was the first part of September when I talk to him and we had been collected from in July so if they have collected three months at a time in the past I don’t understand why they couldn’t collect two months or even three months now. I was told that wasn’t an option and there was nothing that could be done. Scott Tittle was so rude over the phone. I ended up paying the premium on the life insurance because I had the type policy that has cash value so the cash value kicked in and paid the premium or I would’ve lost that too. Anyway from here on out I’ll be paying the premium for the life insurance over the phone which I didn’t know was possible to do for 36 years. For 36 years it’s been done a certain way, The agent came to collect. I had no idea anything was even wrong because they’ve went three months before without collecting and all was okay but I’m here to tell you that they canceled our policies and said it was our fault we should have paid. Didn’t bother to try to even call us to let us know they were in jeopardy he just come by and stuck a card in the back door with no explanation or anything. I guess he done all the due diligence he wanted to do. I’ve paid over $12,600 on those two cancer policies over the years just to lose them. I tried to call Carlos Logan twice he’s the district manager and he’s yet to return my call. I called the corporate headquarters only to hold and hold and finally someone came to the phone and as I’m talking I looked down and I’m talking to dead air so about 15 minutes later my phone rings and it’s them calling me back saying that they had dropped the call and so once again I’m explaining everything I looked down again and I’m talking to dead air so you know, trying to get in touch with somebody at this company to do anything is almost impossible. The receptionist at the local office kindly pointed out to me and you can see on the photos below that failure for the agent to come and collect the premium is not an excuse for nonpayment, even though that’s how you’ve paid it for 36 years. What’s the point of having an agent. When you try to call them or the corporate office to make a payment or to get in touch with somebody it’s ridiculous.
I’ve said all this to say. BEWARE OF KEMPER LIFE. I see in the reviews others have had the same issue. When this happened to me we had a credit balance. We have always paid cash. I no longer trust them to pay cash as one agent collected for a month that the previous agent had already collected for. Pocketed the money.
