When my daughter moved here to start a family, they purchased a beautiful home on Welcome Home Church Road. The area is quiet, and her neighbors are wonderful people. Not long after they moved in, Marshall County began tearing up the old asphalt road. Although the old road surface was in rough shape, it was still much better than what they left behind. The road is now a dirt road and has a moderate amount of rural traffic.

At the present time, my grandchildren can not play outside because of the dust that gets into the air every time a vehicle passes by. Their white home is covered in dust, and the vehicles are coated with it. Their HVAC system filters have to be changed 2-3 times a month because they get filled with road dust. The air quality is extremely poor because this road was left unfinished and the dirt flies everywhere.

Although my daughter has sought help from local officials responsible for getting the road re-paved, nothing has been done. The community that lives and travels on this road deserves better. The road needs to be paved. The speed limit needs to be enforced, and then, maybe the quality of life on this road might significantly improve.

For now, the cost to clean and maintain their homes continues to be a burden for them, and there appears to be little relief in sight.

Welcome to Marshall County Alabama District 3.

Good commissioner and staff especially Beth who took my phone call when the heavy rain (2.2 inches) washed the roads access to my driveway away.
