Our experience with Brauer Insurance was horrendous. We chose them for our small business healthcare insurance plan. We rarely require anything of our insurance broker. However, on the few occasions when we did, dealing with Bonnie Brauer was unnecessarily tedious. Any request was met with an attitude as if they didn’t want to do anything but sit back and collect a commission. Bonnie was often unresponsive to email. We would have to finally email her father, Steve Brauer, in order to get her to respond. After dealing with this behavior and push back for several years, we decided to change brokers. In the midst of this process Bonnie made a mistake on a new enrollee effective date. Bonnie had asked what date to enroll the employee and we confirmed the date by email. She responded and then enrolled the employee incorrectly a month earlier. When we reached out about it she refused to correct her mistake citing that she was no longer our broker and she had no responsibility to fix her mistake. This was mid-month and I pointed out that she was still our broker until the beginning of the following month. She still refused to fix her error in. To date we are still dealing with this issue and the employee she incorrectly enrolled has to pay a month's worth of back dated health insurance premiums, as does our company, due to her mistake. The insurance company has been notified of the error by the agency and the retaliatory response. I emailed her to let her know that I would be sharing our experience and she encouraged us to do so. I am certain she will have her own response as she has proven herself to be vindictive.

For what it’s worth, I am a business owner who has been in business for decades and I have never dealt with someone like this in my entire career. There are many insurance brokers to choose from. As they are commissioned directly by the insurance company, there’s no advantage to choose one over the other. It all comes down to the service you receive. And if you want adequate service, this is an agency that would best be avoided.
