I have been a VACU member for over 25 years. I had always been more than satisfied with their products, services and customer focus. Not now.

I had issues with a routine car loan. VACU seems to think that customer service is taking a complaint and then doing nothing. They are now as impersonal as one of the big corporate banks, so I do not see any advantage to banking with them.

One follow-up call after numerous contacts through every channel I could find was all I wanted, but VACU couldn't be bothered.

Here's my tip: when buying a car, take a lower interest rate from another lender if the dealer offers it. Don't finance through VACU out of a sense of loyalty or even convenience. They don't care.

It's crazy. The branches are great. The 800 number don't answer, don't care, and don't help. My second problem with VACU billpay in 90 days. On hold for 30 minutes with my mortgage company to get VACU on a 3 way call, when I do they need to verify something with my wife. I take 60 seconds to get her and VACU hangs up. And this isn't the first time. Nor did they have the head of customer service call me as I requested after the last fiasco. I won't accept a bank that doesn't provide support. Last time they hid behind a third party, who said they would only reimburse $50 of the $208 in fees I incurred. Then VACU said they wouldn't reimburse ANY. Way to go.

I am writing a negative review due to the lack of customer service by corporate Virginia Credit Union. I had an issue and contacted Virginia Credit Union Customer Service line. The first C.S. Rep was very uninterested in handling my request and so I asked for a member of management to contact me. I did not hear from one in the following few days, so contacted C.S. again and asked for a member of management again. I was contacted by a manager and she was as uninterested in the conversation as the first rep so I asked to speak with a V.P. I have never received a call back from a V.P. I contacted the B.B.B., Attorney Generals office, NCUA and Governor Youngkin to file complaints. I received a letter today from a Executive V.P. I find this to be a cowardly solution and lack of real world customer service... and at the EXECUTIVE level, you should be ashamed. I have closed my credit card and checking account and will let EVERYONE know, you have become the worst in Customer Service. Great job Virginia Credit Union in becoming the worst.

Last week I arranged to have a hold placed on my personal loan autopay. Signed papers & was assured that autodeduct was paused. Checked my source bank account this morning & I'm overdrawn. Can't get anyone from VACU on the phone nor replies to my email. Terrible service.

For me the worst bank I've banked with. They were the first bank I ever used and I once viewed them as a good bank until I started having financial issues due to losing a job. That's when they showed their true colors lol smh. As a supposedly "by the people and for the people " or whatever lie they say they could care less about you and what you maybe going through, they just want your money. They pretty much harass you with calls and letters about how you owe them and they'll never forget blah blah and then they take you to court. Oh and lastly what's customer service? They don't know, most of them have nasty attitudes as if you owe them personally! They talk down on you as if some of them aren't probably struggling themselves smh. The worst and nastiest person I've dealt with is James H in recovery, the worst and so condescending. He and I have actually argued a few times, where is your so called professionalism? Happiest day of my life was when I paid them their money and was able to say GOOD BYE for good.

This is such a terrible organization with terrible practices. If you think this would be a nice, local, safe haven from the big bank corporations then think again! They are literally WORSE!! They are waiting to CAPITALIZE on their customers.They do not care about their community or customers when they wrongfully take money. Customer service is a JOKE! They once told me the information I'm seeing on my account is not what what it actually means but when I say so I'm not seeing truthful information they tell me it is truthful? What?! They once told me they could not reverse a nsf fee because they reduced one 2 YEARS AGO, that was caused by them. They do not listen to their consumers, I've complained so many times about accessible locations and they have don't nothing but put a place where there's already a place nearby! I'm so unsatisfied with my experience it hurts!

Stay away from this organization. As a small business owner trying to survive a financial crisis due to a pandemic called Covid these people slapped me with 2 warrants in debt. After numerous calls to them to explain based upon the nature of my business it was almost impossible to conduct my line of business in homes and generate revenue to pay my obligations they were nasty. There was no understanding. They said we tried to work with you during the early stages of Covid but since you could not agree to our terms we have to file the warrants. I stated to them Covid has only gotten worse and they turned a deaf ear. They said when do you think you can make payments? My response can you tell me when Covid will end?
