Overall expensive. I pay pretty month for electric what I paid in my old house for electric and gas combined. They are an obsolete "co op" that needs to be disbanded. They literally buy electricity, resell it and upcharge the customers. These complaints of facilities charges are legit, usually total nearly the same as my electrical cost. I also would recommend checking your move to make sure you are not in an OEC service area before considering where to buy or build. Update: September 2021 bill- facilities charges actually MORE than my electrical use! Useless garbage electrical company. I don't know how the public service commission let's this go.

Down right ruthless company!! Treats customers with zero dignity, compassion or respect! Do not expect them to be helpful or make any attempt to work with you under special conditions. Absolutely heartless! They realize and take full advantage of the fact that you NEED electricity. I would avoid moving to the OEC service area at all costs, simply because of this service.
WPS on the other hand, is a fantastic company to deal with. They get it!!

Most electric providers pay for a certain footage when running electricity to a home. Mainidue to the fact you'll pay off the labor as a permanently established customer. Nope, not OEC, you pay for every penny. $150 for a consult so they can "double-check" the footage needed. Then they confirm the generals footage was correct and slap you with another bill paying for every foot. Over 2k for a small run, ridiculous.

I'm paying $90 a month in "facility and OEC operating charges". When we had WPS we were paying around $100 per month for electric now we are always $250 and above. We unplug everything and turn things off and our bill goes up every month.

My power went out 4 times in 26 years at my last rural home. In the last 15 months, my power with OEC has gone out 22 times. Yes, 22. Sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes for a few hours, and last week for 2 days. Horrible and expensive for such poor infrastructure.

Joke of an electric company. I pay more for there fees than I do for electricity. WE energies is hands down better. If you can avoid living in an area where Oconto Electric is your provider, do it, you will save thousands in the long run.

Most expensive company around and operates horribly.... I got my first bill in the mail and 3 fays later I got another letter saying my utilities are going to be disconnected because of unpaid bills and I owe another 250 because of it... they never even gave me long enough for my payment to be received in the mail

These people need to have some patients they restored everyone's power in a few days there's only so many workers and thousands of people they need to help honestly they got my power up 2 days before I thought I was going to get power back and I wanna thank all the people that were working around the clock to get us our power back after this crazy storm you guys are awesome!
