So I’m graduating from NAU soon and from my experience I recommend them. You see, I left college for many years because of life, work, and frankly a lack of direction. I had at one point resigned to the idea that I would never go back to college or even finish a degree. Yet, every now and then the desire to finish my degree for myself and my family never truly left me. After so long I finally decided to enroll back at NAU, but it had already been so many years that I didn’t even know where to start. Thats where the "Jacks on Track" team, specifically JJ Boggs, came in and connected with me that I really felt heard and supported here at NAU. At first I thought it was just another typical sales call from another university trying to enroll me, but boy was I wrong. The Jacks on Track's guidance was indispensable during moments of doubt or confusion, they helped me brainstorm and even map out concrete solutions. I was able to see possibilities I hadn’t considered. They showed this genuine interest to help me. The Jacks on Track program gave me the encouragement and tools to keep going. And well today I'm, as you say, back on track and I feel like I'm thriving. Because of their support, in May I will be an LGBT, hispanic and first generation college graduate! I just want to say thank you to everyone who makes the Jacks on Track program possible, whether you’re a donor, a supporter, or someone thinking about coming back to school. You’re making a difference and NAU truly deserves 5 stars if not more. So yes, I truly like this school and recommend it. All my instructors have been communicative and provide great feedback. Go Jacks!

WARNING TO ALL PROSPECTIVE NURSING STUDENTS: BEWARE OF NAU’S COLLEGE OF NURSING

After two years of grueling preparation—acing every prerequisite, maintaining a 4.0 GPA, scoring a 96% on the HESI A2, and working closely with advisors every semester—I was officially admitted into Northern Arizona University’s Traditional BSN program for Fall 2025. I signed my acceptance contract on April 28, 2025, after years of sacrifice, hard work, and careful life planning as a working adult.

Then came May 22, 2025.

In a hastily arranged Zoom meeting, Suzanne McWilliams, Director of NAU’s College of Nursing, delivered a stunning betrayal. Without warning, she announced sweeping changes to the very program I was admitted into—changes that completely altered the structure, rigor, and requirements of the degree I had committed to. The Traditional BSN has been scrapped for our cohort. Instead, we are now being forced into an Accelerated BSN format—one that compresses semesters, demands additional online coursework, and even adds an entirely new prerequisite… all after our admissions were finalized and contracts were signed.

Let me be clear: This is a classic bait-and-switch.

These changes were not disclosed during admissions. There was no transparency, no consideration for students who have planned their careers, finances, and lives around the program as it was presented. When I asked McWilliams why we weren’t informed earlier, her response? That the website had been updated in the last few weeks—implying we should’ve discovered this life-altering information on our own by constantly refreshing a webpage.

This isn’t just poor communication. It’s academic negligence. It’s institutional betrayal. And it’s an insult to every student who trusted NAU with their future.

NAU’s College of Nursing has proven itself untrustworthy, unorganized, and indifferent to the lives it disrupts. It prioritizes administrative convenience and cost-cutting over student wellbeing. President José Luis Cruz Rivera collects his rising million-dollar salary while students are left to suffer under a crumbling, unstable program.

To anyone considering NAU for nursing: Run the other way. There are better programs—programs that respect their students, honor their commitments, and don’t rewrite your future with a single Zoom call.

Shame on Suzanne McWilliams. Shame on NAU. We deserve better.

Terrible school definitely a mess when it comes to admissions don’t even try to apply here if you have funding from a veteran source. They are definitely a printing mill for liberal educators. Hopefully they get some of their funding pulled so they can stop producing inadequate and mindless graduates.

Why on earth are we paying so much for housing and meal plans? There's a lack of food options for the kids on weekends, internet is spotty at best in the dorms and right now ethernet it completely down in my son's dorm during finals.

Transportation fees? Busses are unreliable or full if they do t break down. My son had to by a bike just to ensure he can make it to classes across campus.

Athletic fees are a joke too. The only way to get I to the gym is show up off hours and still wait an hour because they are over capacity.

So many cash grabs built into nau's fees that don't benefit the student at all.

For the amount this institution charges for tuition the academic experience should be much better.

Campus was a mess, they need to hire new landscapers or something. Maybe put a lot of that money that they're making into the campus not into the pockets of CEOs
