I lived at Highland Village Apartments for 1 year. Here is my pros and cons
Pros:
-Staff and maintenance are friendly and do the best they can do for you.
- Location. It is walking distance from grocery stores, campus, 24 gas station that’s sells lots of essential and close to interstate.
-Parking can get crowded but you will always find a spot and it is free.
- decent 24 hour gym with bball court
-club house is nice.
- every one that lived close to me was mellow. I didn’t have to deal with irresponsible college kid party’s.

Cons:
- utilities are expensive, I needed a cheap place to live for 1 year so I came to Highlands cause there rent seemed fairly price but my utilities every month were much more expensive then my friends at other places. Side note I only stayed in this apartment a couple times a weeks cause I was at my GF place or work.
-It is cheaply built. Kitchen and floors give cheap motel vibes. I felt like no matter what you did it is hard to make it feel homey cause it’s bones were motel like.
- I don’t know why but in my apartment and my brothers ā€œin separate buildingsā€ every single outlet was upside down. I know it sounds petty but it is definitely a con.
- Small. I work ems in flagstaff so I’ve been in almost every apartment building and the apartments here are some of the smaller ones.

My experience here has been alright. Maintenance tends to lag a bit but if you call them a couple times and be annoying it tends to get done faster. This apartment hosts more fun events than others I've lived at, ans theyre actually really fun to go to, so thanks apartment life team (Carissa and Sylus)!

My boyfriend and I have lived here for about 4 years. We started out in a studio the first year and then moved into a one-bedroom later, spending our last 3 years there. What I liked about living there was how friendly management and maintenance is. They are very responsive to emails and maintenance requests, and they also responded pretty quickly to them. There’s also raffles and other little events for residents each month. This place is pet friendly, too. I loved walking my dog around the neighborhood there. I also have to give a huge thank you to management for handling our mail after USPS screwed over the residents this year. I would have never received my mail and packages if it wasn’t for them. They also do more to fix issues than what I’ve seen the past two teams of management do in my 4 years of living there. I really appreciate the current team of management.

Though there were many things to like about this place, living there was honestly frustrating as a long-term resident because of the college students. They were constantly throwing parties on the weekends when I had to work the following day. They were always yelling and screaming in the parking lot, too, clearly drunk. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve called the police on them. The only good thing about calling the police is that they have stopped the parties every time that I called them and they do let management know every time that it’s called in. The apartments are also very creaky in certain places, which is very annoying when you have someone living above you. I used to get woken up almost every night from the creaking in my neighbor’s bathtub (above my bed) because they always showered around 2 in the morning. We also had 3 ceiling leaks that poured out of a light fixture in our bedroom, right above our bed. The last property manager made decisions about the last leak that caused issues for our safety, and she didn't seem to care after we brought up those concerns with her. The leaks were also caused by maintenance.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the worst that I’ve dealt with when living there. My boyfriend and I were dealing with harassment and violence from a couple of neighbors over a disagreement of them invading our privacy. I appreciate management helping us out with this situation, but I wish that they did more to keep us safe because those neighbors kept coming back to my apartment to harass us. We weren't allowed to set up a camera or honestly do much to protect ourselves from them, even though we were staying away from them. Multiple police reports were made, too. I was scared to live there after what happened with those neighbors. I never felt safe until after moving out of the complex.

I appreciate everything that management has done for us, but I hope to never live in an apartment complex again. It’s scary to see how many neighbors you have that can turn into scary people like that. I also don't have much respect for college students anymore after my experience with having them for neighbors.

I have lived at highland for 3 years now. Every time I go and talk to the staff they have always been incredibly kind and helpful with any issue or concern I’ve had. This kind of job can be stressful, but Mikayla has only been super nice and understanding with me regarding a difficult move in this passed month. My only complaint would be the increasing prices, but Highland has stayed relatively cheaper compared to other apartments with flagstaff’s increasing living prices. I appreciate all of the hard work the office staff and maintenance staff does!

((((REVIEW UPDATED… I had to change my review because I have been trying to get my security deposit check from them for months and they somehow can’t get it to me. I call in and they seem confused and do not help and put me on hold forever. Reason review is updates to 3 stars is due to lack of organization. I shouldn’t have to call 15 times to get my security deposit check.)))) It may not be the nicest place in flagstaff but it is pretty reasonable for the cost. The reason they get 5 stars is because of their staffs friendliness and willingness to help people. Mikeala especially is a great staff member and I appreciate her help!

Updated move-out review from one I posted upon move-in:

No issues other than the insane noise levels created by other tenants. Upstairs/adjacent neighbors have partied at least 2-3x a week since moving here. If it's not a party, there's still plenty of noise regardless! Get ready to make multiple reports to the police, and get ready for Flag PD to do nothing. Highland doesn't care whatsoever about disturbances either, whether it's a physical fight, drug-related, or people parked in the middle of Highland's property repeatedly honking their horns, showing off aftermarket exhausts, or back & forth with people on top floors. Please do not live here if you work full time and want peace and quiet for more than an hour or two at a time.

Management at other apartment complexes **actually** tackle these issues, and Highland didn't respond to any written/verbal communication. Oh, and their number seems to be out of service half the time (applies to all properties managed under Bella Investment Group). If noise is a foreseeable issue for you, seek someplace else to live. The 3 Flag apartments I've lived in prior to Highland WILL make an effort to accommodate and lessen the noise other units make, or at least send mass emails to remind renters of the lease they've signed.

For reference, the upstairs neighbors I've had within the last year, alongside those from other buildings have deliberately set off others' car alarms (kicking the tires/pushing cars), not to mention the drunk groups of younger kids who toss beer bottles out of their windows while speeding around the property, scream to others from their balcony, amongst others who instigate arguments. Have had to call the police on a lady wandering out drunk pounding on doors, I've seen drug deals, and people looking into units. No privacy, no matter what floor you live on. If you don't live in a building near the main road, good luck getting up the many speed bumps throughout the property in the wintertime. (Many cars have slipped and bumped into one another multiple times a week when we got snowfall in Fall of 2023, lol).

The rent is nice, the location is nice, and the people who work the front desks have been accommodating in every way other than addressing issues of noise levels created by other units in the building/other buildings. Noise is inevitable, sure. But the frequency of parties and spontaneous banging noises will definitely mess up your sleep if you care about that or if you like sleeping open windows. Not a place to live at if you or your pets dislike the thick marijuana smoke AND cig smoke that'll waft into your place. (No, Highland is not a smoke free property, despite it being in the lease agreement).

Damn, lol. Never again

staff needs to communicate better with employees n renters. tow vehicle due to
inconvenience… now its staff fault but can’t do anything. have to pay very high amount for get vehicle n RENT we work so hard for. definitely can find better staff n apartments elsewhere in flagstaff. Even without this inconvenience not a great place to live at… especially in the WINTER… terrible!!! There are some apartments that re done but couldn’t doubt is more expensive. Flagstaff is out for your pockets so re think choosing this as your option .

The apartments are reasonably priced, however, I did unfortunately have a bit of a disconnect with my former roommates. They had some issues with me and instead of coming to me and having a discussion they went right to management. Management did an inspection of my unit because of the complaints from my roommates. After the inspection I had a bit of a talk with them regarding the way I felt mistreated by my roommates they offered to allow me to break my lease without penalty and I thought that would be the end of it, but I proceeded to apply to another property owned by the same company and they denied me because of the situation with my roommates.
