We are fairly new to SLO, so my wife and I drove down to the Higuera Street location to open some new accounts with American Rivera Bank after being impressed with their TV commercials and online reviews. As we entered, we were greeted promptly by one of the tellers. We told her why we came into their office today and were told to take a seat over there and someone would come over to help us, no problem we thought, as we didn't have an appointment. After awhile the teller came over to us to tell us that no one could help us because they were all too busy, but she gave us the card of Michelle Brewster ,and told she was very knowledgeable and could help us set up our three accounts with no problem, but that she wouldn't be in until 12:00 PM. We thought "fair enough" we'll just go to lunch downtown and call her when we get to the restaurant to make an appointment. We did just that. I called Michelle when we sat down and left her a message that we wanted to get started with their bank, and thought that sometime that afternoon we could come back and finish our business. Well it's two days later and I have had no response. I guess we should have stated just how big the accounts would have been, but we kind of wanted to see how American Riviera treated their new customers because you can tell a lot about a firms culture by how they start off the relationship. Oh well I guess, there are other banks in San Luis Obispo. This is just how we were treated as a new customer, maybe you'll be treated better.

After having lackluster-to-horrible experiences at other local banks, banking at American Riviera was a breath of fresh air. Great location, beautiful branch, *AMAZING* customer service, and lots of local support & community engagement. We now have all our family's accounts here. Highly recommend if you want modern-day banking with good-old-days values & customer service.

The loans/credit department clearly showed they're not able to read a tax return. I wouldn't feel safe keeping my money in this bank.
