My husband and I have been with Bank of the James for almost 20 years, personally and for our small businesses. We’ve never had an issue with the bank or employees. Every time we visit our local branch in Madison Heights it’s enjoyable (the tellers are amazing). Each employee knows my name, ask about our kids and knows exactly how I like to bank. I’m super easy and always in a hurry, therefore they make things easier for me with all my banking with deposits and withdrawals, etc. They always take that extra moment to check in to make sure all is going well for us personally and our business. They support our small business too. Which makes me love banking at the Bank of the James even more. They truly are a representation of a local banking that has all the ‘feels’ of hometown and community. Every person is important to them. We are not just numbers. We matter.

If I hear other people complain about their bank, I always tell them to try Bank of the James. They will not be disappointed.

Bank of the James has been my local bank ever since they opened a branch in Madison Heights. It was the best decision I could have made from a banking standpoint. I used to think that having your bank know you personally was not that important....that is, until someone hacked into my email account and sent an email to my bank requesting a wire transfer of funds from my account. Because the folks at the bank knew me personally and were familiar with my transactions, they suspected something was not right and contacted me immediately, possibly saving me from a very serious loss. But beyond that, these folks bend over backwards to provide excellent customer service, not to mention my free checking and friendly help whenever I need it. I actually miss seeing them during the pandemic and can't wait to when I can walk in and see their smiling faces. I notice that Bank of the James is opening new branches around the area, and their growth is for good reason.
