I have enjoyed my Baylands banking experience for more than 40 years. I really liked the new online education account and found it fun and not stressful to take the Financial Basics course. Learned a few things from this service of Baylands. There use to be other friendly service oriented places to bank. I miss United Virginia Bank, Sovran Bank, Peninsula Savings and Loan but mergers changed that leaving us with a few choices - mostly mega banks that don't have much time for small accounts. I appreciate the personal friendly greetings whether using the drive thru or lobby. It is comforting to see the same faces for years so it must be a good place to work. They remind me that I am a credit union member not just a customer.

We absolutely love banking at Baylands! The staff members - shoutout to you, Jodie! - are so helpful & are always willing to ensure your needs as a customer are met. While it did take a bit of trial & error to add our accounts to Apple Pay, we were indeed able to do so, unlike another reviewer mentioned. We as a family are so grateful to have Baylands in the neighborhood & we look forward to continue building our relationship with the folks there!

My needs are always met at Bayland Credit Union. The staff are friendly and professional. Danielle has been an excellent and awesome Member Service Representative who happens to be my personal favorite.
Desiree is also a favorite. The entire staff including Linda and Fred are very attentive my needs and are very pleasant.

I'm very close to closing out my account after over a decade of having one here; how I've stayed this long is hard to say. They find any way possible to track your spending, which often includes blocking purchases that they "view as fraud" even after you explain it to them. You have to get permission from them to use your card out of state, and even then they'll still block purchases that are just 2 miles down the road from the branch.

Today was the greatest example of how terrible Baylands is. In the past 5 months alone I have had multiple online purchases blocked. Their so called "Fraud Detection Center" is not only a broken and useless system that has never once solved my issue, making me end up calling Baylands directly (to also mixed results), but it in and of itself sounds like fraud! Maybe if you're trying to prevent so called "fraud", find a more efficient and less fraudulent seeming way to do it. Now to today's event. A month ago I backed a project on Kickstarter. They immediately called and said that it was fraud. It took me two more tries before they told me it was cleared and good to go. A month goes by and the Kickstarter closes and comes out of my account... except it doesn't. It gets blocked as fraud. After I was told a month earlier that it was clear. In fact this time my entire card is blocked. In the entire conversation I had with the 3 staff working this branch (of which I had to come back a second time because of the issue not being solved after I was told it was; it STILL isn't), just about every time I tried to explain my frustration and confusion with the way they deal with these issues it was turned back around on me and everything was made to be my fault - I was in the wrong, not them. The woman working behind the desk to the side in particular was very rude to me. At one point, upon telling them that I don't understand why so many of my charges are blocked, she told me that because Kickstarter is in New York, it was blocked as fraud; I further explained how that doesn't make sense and implies that no online purchases should work unless the company is in Virginia. In response to that she very rudely said, "Well if you were on our side and saw how much fraud we see on a daily basis, you would be grateful to us for locking your card." So apparently I guess I'm supposed to be grateful for all of the stress they are causing me by not being able to use MY MONEY. I use your services because we live in a late stage capitalistic hellscape and I have to, not because I want to have every single transaction spied on and controlled.

In conclusion, if you want to be able to use your money freely because, you know, you earned it, DO NOT open an account here. Avoid it at all costs. And Baylands, I'd prefer not to be talked to like how I was talked to today. I'm not sure of that employee's name, but if she were my employee she would be written up immediately.

I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. They finally updated their prehistoric app which is still way far behind everyone else. There is no such thing as Google or Apple Pay so when you see that they accept that on their website, it is not accurate. Their website itself has no actual real beneficial information for budgeting, money tracking etc. you can’t link your account to any third party service to do so either. You can have a an account for them for years and in good standing but they are out in your pockets the first chance they get with no good graces. Customer service has a lot to leave desired. You just lost a member of 4 years. I’ll never bank with bay lands again. I’ll be sure to to warn everyone else to stay far away from them if they value their own time and money like I do.
