CIVANA Wellness Resort and Spa - Carefree, Arizona

One of the nicest resorts for all inclusive. The class offerings and spa treatments are amazing catering to all activity levels. I had a nice introduction to meditation and practiced it every morning of my trip. The food is good, healthy and meets many allergy concerns. Dinner choices can be limited, but overall there is something for everyone. The rooms are clean and spacious and the resort is laid out, so that no matter where you stay, you are a short walk from all activities.

We just spent three nights at Civana and loved every minute of it. The food, service, spa, room and activities were absolutely amazing. Everyone was so friendly and not at all pretentious even though it’s a fancy resort. We took so many classes and had three spa services which were top notch. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

We had an overall incredible experience at Civana. The property is gorgeous and clean, the staff are wonderful, and everything exceeded our expectations. My friend did have a slight issue with the front desk regarding breast milk storage, which caused her trouble with airport security, and potentially for her to discard the milk. I messaged the resort and I'm hoping the staff be made aware of how to handle this in the future.

Otherwise, everything about our stay was fantastic.

I had a fantastic massage at the Spa at Civana with Aaron. He was kind, patient, and clearly very knowledgeable. He explained his system for giving feedback during the session, which made it easy to communicate what I needed. His approach is more therapeutic than relaxing, almost like working with a physical therapist. He found knots I didn’t even know I had and worked through them until they released. He mentioned he’s studied in several countries for over a decade and it shows. He also gave great advice on how to stretch and care for my body. If you’re looking for real bodywork with lasting benefits, I highly recommend him.

Civana turned out to be everything I never knew I needed. As a solo traveler, I felt seen, safe, and supported throughout my stay. The wellness classes, workshops, and spa were the main reasons I chose Civana, and they exceeded my expectations. The resort itself, along with its breathtaking views, was truly incredible.

I thoroughly enjoyed the menu items at both on-property restaurants, and every employee I encountered was absolutely delightful. The resort shuttle to the airport was also a great experience—my driver was punctual, professional, and friendly. While the guest rooms could use some updates, I appreciated their minimalist design and loved the bathroom products provided.

Additionally, I had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful fellow guests, which made my stay even more special. I can’t wait to return!

This my second visit to Civana. The owners of this resort are putting their resources into EXACTLY the right things; quality instructors and spa staff, creative classes and spa treatments, and fabulous food!!! Are the rooms simple? Yes. But they are clean and the beds are comfortable. AND we spent zero time in the room bc we were so busy either at a class, the spa or taking in the amazing Arizona sun by the pool. April is definitely a nice month to visit. Warm but not hot and beautiful grounds with unusual flora and fauna blooming. |I’ve been to high end resorts such as Canyon Ranch and Six Senses. In my mind this resort has FAR better instructors, classes, spa treatments and food!!! I will be back for a third trip at some point even tho I live on the east coast. Any chance owners will open a site on the east coast?!!

I’m going to still give Civana an overall 5 star rating. There were a few mishaps on the hotel that were disappointing.

On our first night we had lukewarm water and the front desk told us they would have maintenance come look at it. About 40 minutes passed and we called again, then was told the maintenance employee called in sick. They offered us to change rooms around 10 PM at night when we were all unpacked so we declined. We were then offered a complimentary day spa pass which was kind.

Secondly, I highly suggest you review every detail of your invoice. We had paid an advanced rate for our stay months prior. Our invoice said we had needed to pay for an experience fee night and an advanced rate of
totalling over $500. Like I said, we had paid in advance and this was annoying having to go back to our room to look at the invoice and review it all and go back to the desk to show them, not exactly how we wanted to spend our last night.

I will say the employees and the guest were so uplifting and always had smiles on their faces. If you dine in at Terras, request for Yolanda.

Civana is great place to decompress at, find healing, have new experiences, and connect with others.

I just got back from CIVANA resort and spa and literally had the best 4 days and 3 nights of pure relaxation and revitalizing activity. I went to CIVANA with my husband after going through a tough loss together. We both needed a trip that would give us a proper reset and positive outlook. AZ is one of our favorite places to visit and CIVANA is located in such a gorgeous part of AZ called Carefree! The SPA is divine at CIVANA (you'll want to spend the entire day there so allocate a day for that) but for us the real treat was all the mind-body programming to choose from. We took Pilates Sculpt classes, a Ropes Course (highly recommend this!), a 4 mile hike (Tortuga Trail) and on our last day we did an SUP excursion. Every class and excursion was led by the most skilled, experienced and personable pros. We loved Sierra who led our hike and SUP trip! Terras Restaurant is the perfect compliment to all the fitness with a menu that's healthy and always so beautifully plated. We also couldn't get over the smoothies at SEED Cafe. They're pricey but WORTH IT! Definitely try the Mango Lassi smoothie. Overall, I'd highly recommend CIVANA as a 3-4 day escape with your partner or friends. Or if you're craving a solo trip, honestly there isn't a better place than CIVANA. This is where I'd go solo as evrything about it is safe and supportive for a solo female traveler. CIVANA really is a special place and I loved crawling into bed at the end of each day there. The rooms are cozy and nicely maintained and all face inward to the property. I liked waking up to the sun spilling into my room each morning nice and early! We had no bad experiences here and all 4 days were nicely outlined for us in a thorough itinerary that we were given upon arrival. My advice would be to choose your classes a week before you go. You can always change up your schedule once you get there if you change your mind about things. Just don't back out of the Ropes course as it will be the most memorable thing you do. We actually upgraded our hike to a more challenging train and added an aerial meditation session to our itinerary. You'll be able to feel things out once you get there.
