Update*
-We were contacted by Issac the owner, he listened to our concerns and made things right. Thank you. - We have adjusted our rating based on this.
When we decided to go solar we started the process by getting 3 separate quotes . Being we were unfamiliar with the project and what was necessary we decided to do our due diligence .
Ethos was by far the most hands on and from what I could see most knowledgeable on this first visit . As for cost and timeline they were more expensive than our cheapest quote and in the middle for install date . We decided to proceed with Ethos based on our interactions initially and they estimated install to be late September to early October .
This was the first of many small missteps, we were notified after signing our contract that we had been misquoted and we would be getting different hardware than what was documented . Ok no big deal accidents happen but again this is one of many small missteps/ mistakes.
As we were anxiously waiting for September/ October we would get texts here and there updating us from the project lead and the original rep we spoke with corrected herself in saying the project would be pushed to October for sure . ( no big deal).
October came and we had not heard anything on install or next steps . I reached out mid October inquiring what we would be looking at for the next step to this project. Our lead shared with us heād need a final home visit for planning and an install date would fallow this date but not immediately after . He came in October for the final planning and I was home for this visit . On his exit he said his goodbyes and mentioned āWell see your around December for installā . It caught me a little off guard so I didnāt say anything as he exited .
The issue with a December install is it pushes this project close to being finished in 2025 not 2024 . We had shared right away that we were using a local credit union with a program that allows for you to collect your tax credit before the financing begins . So this was very important to us and again was shared up front with more than one person at Ethos including our lead.
I later messaged our concerns about the timeline and asked where this project needed to be for that tax credit to apply in 2024 . He let me know he would find out and get back to us on both the install and my questions on the tax credit.
First day of install went smoothly for racking, second day seemed to go just fine as well . I was called and let know both dates for these . However work wrapped up on the 2nd day and things looked good but we had no way of knowing how complete the project was or if another day was needed.
This was on a Thursday, the next day Friday I was off work and home doing my normal cleaning. Someone randomly opened my back door and pops there head in saying ā helloā (which gave me a mini heart attack) I responded āHelloā and he states he didnāt realize anyone was home but was here to finish install. We were never told they were coming Friday or that we needed more install.
Mid December we finally got the go ahead from the inspection but Ethos was missing images from our install that they had forgotten to take for the application for use . This was a small thing to forget but was not the first time we had to take pictures they had forgotten to take . We sent the pictures and permitting was submitted late in the week . Our utility was right on it that fallowing Tuesday. At this point our project lead lets us know another person from Ethos will be contacting us to show us our app and flip the system on.
Well we never heard from said person , I asked again and our lead let us know sheād be contacting us that Thursday . Thursday came and went and I was done and beyond frustrated as I felt I had been chasing down updates and communicating frustration through this whole process. So I asked if I can just turn it on myself and have them activate my app as we are tech savvy and I just want this process to be over.
