Moved to Centreville AL, October of 2021 and was told the First US Bank branch that is here was good. After setting up my account I soon regretted it. The person that setup my account was Karyn Johnson. Not sure what her issue with me was. The chain of events are below!

After my account was opened I asked Mrs. Johnson to order me a book of checks. She said she would but never did.

I had a $4500 check I wrote from my old bank that I wanted deposited into my new account at First US Bank in Centreville. I was told it would be 7 days before the money would be in my account. I waited the 7 days and went in to ask why the money hasn't cleared. I was told it will now be 10 days. I waited and was told it would be 12 days. At this time I'm not happy but, had no choice to wait since they were holding my money hostage. To my surprise the money still wasn't there on the 12th day. It was two days after when it finally cleared so it took 14 business days to clear, not including the weekends.

I needed the $4500 to pay bills, purchase materials to remodel my house and pay a crew I hired to installed gutters on my house. I explained all this to Mrs. Johnson and she didn't care. I know if she was in my shoes she wouldn't be happy either. While I was in her office I asked her for the second time to please order me checks and she said she would, but never did.

I got my old account closed and was mailed a cashiers check. I went through the drive-thru at the the Bank and was told they couldn't deposit the check. I ended up having to go into the bank and put up with Mrs. Johnson unprofessionalizum. My old account was a joint account that had my name and my girlfriends name. The new account I opened at First US Bank only had my name. Mrs. Johnson wouldn't allow me to deposit the Cashiers check into my account since my girlfriends name wasn't on it. I even had my girlfriend with me at the time. My girlfriend said it was OK but Mrs. Johnson said it was against Bank policy.

While sitting in Mrs. Johnson's office I told her I didn't enjoy the way I was being treated and voiced my concerns. I told her I was considering closing my account. She looked at me and smiled and said she would be more than happy to assist me with closing my account. That same day I decided to go to a different Bank and happy I did.

I waited a couple of months and drove to Woodstock AL to the First US Bank there to close my account so I wouldn't have to deal with Mrs. Johnson or pay early termination fees. The 22 minute drive to Woodstock AL from my house opposed to the 5 minute drive to the branch in Centreville was well worth it. I explained what happened to the nice ladies at that branch and they were very understanding and apologized for the way I was treated. They closed my account without issue. I almost kept it open since they were so nice, but there was no need to have it since all of my other accounts were with another bank.
