Update: Last week I created a contact for myself in Zelle. Friday I tried transferring myself 100.00. The transfer was blocked by HBCU until I called and verified the contact. Nobody from the credit union has contacted me so their response to my initial review is BS. We have left messages for the Branch Manager and apparently she can’t be bothered with talking to customers.

For some reason, this credit union doesn’t want us to have access our own money. Based on how they are treating us how are they treating active duty service members stationed outside Virginia?

If you value good customer service don’t even consider this organization.

First, we have been members of Homebase Credit Union, formerly Fort Lee Federal Credit Union, since 1994 (31 years).

This credit union has gone downhill, in terms of customer service, over the past few years. Their security procedures with Zelle, for example, make it virtually impossible to transfer money on the weekends and they place a hold on the transfer until the receiver is verified the next business day. Since December 2024 when have been locked out of bill pay because a payee returned a payment (took one month, yes one month, to unlock bill pay). Because of the lock of bill pay we were not able to use Zelle after business hours to pay someone performing work for us. Recently we tried sending 750.00 to our SIL on a Saturday and Homebase block the transfer until I called and verified the received on Monday morning. What if this was an emergency? Discussing the issue with Homebase employees (to include an email to the manager) was a joke and total waste off my time. This institution does not care about members.

In the past few years Homebase Credit Union has been more concerned about WOKE and DEI initiatives instead of customer service.

Homebase Federal Credit Union came through for me during a really tough time. After facing financial hardship, they treated me with compassion and worked with me to get the loan I needed. Their support gave me a fresh start, and I’m so grateful!

My daughter went into this bank to start her first bank account only to be ignored and multiple people being serviced before her. I would give a lower score if possible. That’s okay I instructed her to go to USAA because they actually value new customers.

Poor service so far. I was forced to open an account based on the fact that dealerships indicated they are the sole financial institution to fund my loan with “juicy” offers. Since opening an account I’ve to jump through the hoops to make payments. The app demands password all the time ignoring facial recognition features. Over the cost of 6months I’ve changed passwords more than 10times. Don’t recommend this institution for business

The ATM at the Prince George is always out of cash. Rite Aid is closed and other locations are too far when you have things to do. Please add another ATM at your PG location. I really don't understand why the one in the main entrance can't be available after hours. You have to go thru another door to get inside the branch. If not, please add another ATM at the main branch.

My experience with home base credit union was fantastic! I was in need of a truck and the interest rates nowadays are insane! They were able to give me the best interest rate I could find anywhere and the staff was polite and nice. It really was a pleasure doing business with them and I recommend anyone to check them out for any banking needs! I am a homebase credit union member and will continue to be!

My first experience with credit unions was with Fort Lee in 2001 when I arrived in the states from Europe- I had been here before but never thought I would return but when I did- I knew exactly where to go for ALL my banking, loans and at that time Christmas Club. I started my daughter off with this credit union when she turned 18 and now she is 39 and we both bank here. I Love the staff, customer service and family atmosphere- As of September 2024, I will celebrate 23 yrs with Fort Lee Federal Credit Union! Awesome financial institution!

They will block your card with no warning or notification. Im sitting here with things to do and can't because I cant acces my money. It's the weekend and there is no one available. So im stuck until monday at 9 am to talk to someone. This is the 3rd time this has happen. I will no longer be a memeber of this credit union. I will be at Navy Federal a real credit union.
