The receptionist was great, very upbeat and friendly. Dr. Taylor and her assistant were friendly and competent. I wish there was more time to talk to the doctor and wasn't so rushed. Glad to see you have hired smother doctor to help carry the load.

• I was denied a post-operative appointment following dental surgery because Dr. Adams, the dentist handling my case, returned to school and became unavailable. Interior Community Health Center did not have a replacement or anyone to continue care. I was denied the necessary appointment twice (via phone), despite being informed that it was essential due to the risk of brain infection. Additionally, I was not permitted to schedule an appointment with the dental assistant, Megan. No further appointments, care, or procedures have been provided.
• At my initial appointment for establishing care, the focus was shifted from the intended purpose to mental health treatment, which was distressing and is embarrassing to discuss publicly. I originally contacted Interior Community Health Center to establish primary care, believing my physical concerns were directly impacting my mental health. NP Beckstead, who was new, prioritized my mental health over setting up primary care during the first appointment. After leaving a review with ICHC, I believe they addressed my concern, as no further issues arose until now. NP Beckstead and I agreed that I would be honest about my mental health if she helped with primary care.
• A few months ago, I received a prescription to address a physical problem, which required monitoring and follow-up checks. This occurred just before NP Beckstead's departure and NP Taylor's arrival. I also received a referral for mental health counseling. Although I was more willing to discuss recent mental health issues, my physical care remained a priority. A month ago, I rescheduled my appointment due to not starting the medication. Today, I was notified of a missed appointment, but I had not received any confirmation messages or emails, No check-in text message. When discussing the situation with scheduling via phone, I was informed of the missed appointment being yesterday, again without any communication over the weekend. Attempting to reschedule, I was given three options for this week, none of which worked for me, and was advised to just call back later and talk to someone else.
Despite understanding and attention to mental health concerns, Interior Community Health Center's practices pose difficulties. Firstly, making appointments via phone compromises privacy due to the invasiveness of the scheduling operators. I should not be put into a position to describe why I need to reschedule an appointment for a concern that has already been documented in the original setting of the appointment. I should also not have to go into details regarding the appointment. It seems reasonable to add concerns to the check-in questionnaire. Institutions entrusted with private matters should exhibit the utmost politeness and empathy. Secondly, patient check-in questions lack flexibility, preventing accurate context in responses. More emphasis on physical health, akin to head-to-toe wellness questions, is also necessary.
Despite the frustrations with scheduling practices and the lack of flexibility in addressing complete health contexts, these issues are systematic and ultimately solvable. A more nuanced approach to appointment-making that respects both privacy and the complexity of patient needs, combined with an emphasis on holistic health assessments, could significantly enhance the patient experience. However, the foundation of offering accessible, community-centric care remains invaluable. The ideology driving this "community" health model is critically important, providing a much-needed service that bridges gaps in healthcare and focuses on building trust and connection within the community.
Regardless of these challenges, I want to emphasize that Dr. Adams and Megan have been truly fantastic in their roles. Their dedication and professionalism have been evident in every interaction, and they have provided exceptional care in their respective capacities. Additionally, the Greeter at Interior Community Health Center has consistently been kind, helpful, and an integral part of the appointment process.

This was my first regular doctor appointment here. The place was clean, & well staffed. Impressive bcz we had 11 inches of snow, that night. I had an early morning appointment. I was acquainted with the office folks in a timely fashion, and saw the doctor with out a long wait. She was helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I look forward a new family doctor relationship.

Have had excellent times over the last 21 years at ICH but not when you ask questions.
Beware and ask for exactly what you want, otherwise you'll be made to come back for 4 visits when 1 would have been successful. Can you say churning the billable rates?
