I read lots of bad reviews from years ago but tried NRVPM out anyway. I had a decent experience. I rented a duplex outside of Blacksburg, so one half of an older house. The house itself needed some light repairs which I ended up doing myself. Maintenance tickets took a while to complete and I had to pester NRVPM to get them to do anything. It was very hard at times to get responses from my rep, Tim, via email or call. Luckily I could show up in-person at the office, which was only open 10am-4pm weekdays. When communication was possible, Tim was good to work with though. My cleaning fee at move-out was not bad either, just about $100 since I left the place clean. Since I can tend to a house and worked near enough to stop by the office when I had questions, I had no real issues. I would give 5 stars if the communication overall was a lot better.

While they don't appear to be out to screw you over, they will be very unresponsive with the aim of discouraging you from closing your lease out properly. You must be very proactive and document everything before, during, and after moving. They charged a $475 cleaning fee but had tenants moving in before the cleaning could have occurred. No point in arguing it because they will not return calls and you only recourse is suing which obviously isn't worth it.

They will screw you out of your deposit. Do not rent from them and if you do get EVERYTHING in writing. I left my home in great condition and they still are not giving me my deposit. They don’t care about their tenants at all. I lived in one of their homes for over 8 years and not one upgrade was done inside or out. They blame all of their bad decisions on the owners of the property. I’m surprised home owners want to use them. They also do not respond to calls or emails. When you do get someone on the phone they have no clue what issues you raised in the past or previous calls so apparently no notes or files are kept. They are rude, condescending and only care about money.

If you rent from NRV Properties Management, don’t expect to see your deposit again. No matter how well you care for the property or return it in better condition than when you moved in, they will hit you with outrageous fees for random, unjustified charges that will completely wipe out your deposit. It’s a scam! See enclose charges for one 10x11 room.

My friend rents from this place and she has not had heat in her place this entire winter. The person who manages her place is not taking her seriously, blames her for not getting back to them and for the problem. It has now been over a month and a half with going back and forth with them. It is ridiculous how she is being treated. I would never rent from them. All this while she has been paying the whole amount of her rent.

Horrible communication! Emails after emails and no response. I showed up at the office in Radford, called the office, emailed, still took months to finally fix the window. They do not respect your time or you as a person.

Love these guys! Anytime I have an issue i can easily put in a work order on their website and within a day or two they’re contacting me to schedule a time and day to do repairs! Such a friendly guy who came to fix my washer too! NRV is one of the best property management companies I’ve come across in my many years of renting! Definitely recommend!
