Work for the VA system in Roanoke and was recommended here. I had been calling the loan officer at the VA for few weeks, could not get any help or answer the questions I did have. Finally contactd another credit union Member One and got taken care of in a matter of a few hrs, going to refinance two car loans with them also. Gonna make sure not to recommend this union to family and friends. Horrendous customer service when finally was able to talk to someone other than the woman in call center who was nice, Sherie?

I'm going to start by saying the employees are great, the policies on the other hand not so much. They've continued to go down hill for the last 12 - 14 years. As a Veteran I expect more from an entity that carries VA as in Veteran Affairs in its title. If you have a credit card through the SalemVA make sure to use it, even if your making payments on that card that carries a balance which I would think constitutes activity they'll close it out and make you reapply for a new card. But wait there is more.....you have to pay off said balance before you can get a new card. This card carried with it funds to be used in case of emergency. I could see a card with 0 balance owed being closed out after x amount of time of non-use. But one carrying a balance with well over 50% still available to be used.......and no notice that said card will be closed because no new purchases have been made, really?. Have always got courtesy notices from other cards that the card would be closed, but those were not used and had 0 balance due on them. Come on SalemVA you have to do better. My accounts with this union will soon be closed. Have made lots of big purchases here in the past, there will be no more in the future.

Edit: I feel this should be reported to the BBB/CFPB, there is just something shady about this. What are you all doing? Trying to falsely boost numbers by closing accounts that shouldn't be closed in an attempt to get customers to have to re-apply for credit therefore showing as if a new account was opened? hitting their credit report unfairly.

Absolutely lovely ladies that were of incredible assistance. I wish I remembered there names, were patient with me, helped me file forms, and had no issues w the time we spent after nothing came to completion. Thank you!

Salem VA Credit Union's employees are the kindest people of all! They're so friendly that when you go to the bank, it feels like you're right at home! They have great customer service and the place is tremendously neat, I strongly recommend banking with them.

Just go to Wells Fargo. I got hung up on today by a lady named Amber, in another example of the terrible service we get from SalemVA. I was trying to get back 2 more stolen fees.

Thieves. Their outdated app/online banking is reason enough to close accounts. Fees before your account even goes negative and they'll blame you. This is a big part of why credit unions are to be avoided.

Excellent staff that are always helpful and friendly when I am in the branch. The added benefit of easy to use online banking with unlimited account transfers (standard banking only allows 5 a month) is extremely helpful. The low fees for overdraft and no fees for having a negative balance are also appreciated if you end up making a mistake with your finances. All in all I would recommend Salem VA FCU to my family and friends.

No ones available when you call. Someone needs to be able to answer the phone. Love the hometown feel but the whole system seems outdated. I would love to see your website updated with better features like being able to see pending transactions.

Worst banking service, the atm took my card for taking to long to deposit a check, I was filling out the deposit envelope it gives you and it took my card for “security reason” and said the atm was closed. I’m changing banks as soon as possible.
