Scratch Pay was there for us twice when my dog had to be taken to the ER on two different occasions. They truly were a God send. And I don't have the greatest credit either. The interest rate wasn't bad at all. I feel as though they were very fair across the board. They're even forgiving when your late on payments.
I never had any issues with them.
Highly recommended!

If you're having issues getting a loan to go through:

1. Use a Chromium-based browser like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Firefox will consistently fail with JSON parsing errors in the past step when making requests to Stripe. The webview used by the Android app is inconsistent and should probably be replaced with native components.

2. If you get the "Response Timeout" and an error page about half way through, wait about 30 seconds to see if it'll auto-refresh. If not, manually refresh. You may have to do this several times.

I spent about an hour trying to help get this to go through when things had previously worked smoothly with minimal issues in the past. I am grateful for their services, and when it does work it does work. But when the automated process hits a hiccup, the options for recovery are limited and not at all robust and the customer service contact line really just serves as a verbal walk through of the same automated process rather than any means to get help via manual intervention.

Depending on your situation you may very well be better off borrowing from your existing bank instead of using this service. Here's to hoping things improve.

These people are not your friends, and if you're hoping for a human touch that cares about your pets, that is not what makes them money. Use with care.

I took out a Scratch Pay loan when my cat needed surgery. It was easy to obtain. It was helpfully explained to me on the phone that I needed to NOT sign up for auto payments, because those would be minimum amounts - I wanted to pay the loan off within 6 months because then it would be interest free. I successfully paid the loan off within 6 months, so no interest. And my cat's surgery was successful!

The scratch pay loan process itself was easy and seamless. I kept getting turned down for care credit and scratch was a godsend. HOWEVER, I paid off three plans totally, never a late payment and I can now not get approved for anything. One of my cats literally died because I could not afford surgery. I have no idea...my credit is better than it was before and I paid everything off in stellar fashion...but they won't even loan me 500 now. Maybe they've gotten harder to get idk but it's really frustrating when I have a great history with them.

Just a heads up, if using for vet expenses such as a surgery, make sure you apply as close to the surgery as possible. I was approved coverage for the whole surgery and since my loan expired the day before my dog was discharged from the hospital, I was unable to use it. Tried reapplying and was only covered for a couple hundred dollars. Just be aware if using far in advance!

Thank you so much to Scratchpay. November of last year, my cat was dying, and I did not have the funds to pay for his life-saving procedure. I applied for scratchpay and was quickly accepted..which is important because vets won't start the surgery if the money isn't locked down. I didn't have to pay any interest. I think there was a promotional offer. I got it all paid off today, so it took one year and one month. HIGHLY recommend Scratch pay; because of them my cat is alive and well today!

I was pleased and grateful to use the Scratchpay option while in an emergency situation with Tulip. I have used scratch pay for other dog care expenses and have always had a very smooth and easy experience. My one complaint is that my credit report is showing I owe you $1 and is negatively affecting my credit. When I go to my scratch pay account, it's shows that ALL is paid. I would appreciate it if Scratch Pay could please remove this "late payment" from my credit report. Thank you

This was a life saver for both my baby and me. It was nice to be able to get the care she needed and have the option to pay over time. Payments are reasonable and depend on actual amount financed. I have used Scratch Pay numerous times.
The only drawback is you might be approved one time and denied the next but still a great program.
