BMC came highly recommended to me and my partner. We love, love, love the current place we are in, but because of a previous lease signed for Aug 2020, we are moving to another BMC property within the next few weeks. So far the change over has been smooth. We've had a few maintenance issues here for the course of our lease, but the emergency team and the regular 9-5 team were always so helpful and got us the help we needed in a timely fashion. There's been a few structural changes that needed to be fixed as well, like our porch and the doors to the porch. They were great in communicating when they would be in and out of the apartment and when the work would be finished. Would definitely recommend to friends, family and strangers!

BMC served as property manager for our apartment complex in Charlottesville. They fulfilled their role with competence and integrity. It was essential to us, as owners, to have a manager who could effectively prioritize our own interests in a manner that was mutually respectful and caring towards the tenants. BMC did an excellent job achieving this balance. As owners, managers, and developers themselves, BMC is well plugged in and maintained a constant pulse on the market. We relied heavily on their expertise regarding rents, contractors, and numerous other issues that arose during our holding period. We look forward to the next opportunity to work with the team at BMC and would not hesitate to recommend them to any owner in the Charlottesville market.

Highly recommend not renting from their General's Retreat property in Lexington VA. Place was very dirty when I moved in and the "customer service" was very unresponsive. I was on a time crunch when moving to the area and was forced into living here because I wasn't familiar with the area and wasn't finding anything else. I had a neighbor paying $150 less than I was and they refused budge on price and length of contract. You can easily find a whole house in the area for $200 less.

I decided not to rent from BMI because the contract was not acceptable.
However my agent Jake was wonderful to deal with . He responded to my questions and concerns promptly.
His efficiency and competence should serve him very well in this field.

If I could give this company a zero star review I would.

Please, please, PLEASE do not rent any property from this company! It will save you unnecessary stress! Especially if you are a student at UVA looking for off-grounds housing options, I promise you there are MUCH better companies to rent from.

My roommates and I have stayed at Carrollton Terrace (with a renewed lease for next year) and here are just a FEW of the frustrating/ridiculous events that have happened:

- They do not pick up the phone when you call them (seriously, try it now, it will go straight to voicemail) or respond to your emails. My roommates and I had to actively bombard them over the course of DAYS to get any type of response.

- To buy a parking space in the garage below the apartment building, they charge $100+/month on top of our expensive rent. And when you call them or email them to buy a parking space, there is no response.

- With our renewed lease for a 4BD/2BTH apartment, we were in search of a 4th roommate because our previous roommate found a new place. Due to BMC's unprofessionalism and incompetence to readily respond, we lost out on MANY potential new roommates, leading us to request for rent leniency.

- Their response for a "rent leniency" during a global pandemic is for us to pay back the month's rent incrementally for the next 6 months on TOP of our monthly rent. This comes out to close to $900/month.

TL;DR: the unprofessionalism of this company is absolutely ridiculous especially considering that they are paid to do this. Save yourself from a world of unnecessary frustration by renting with another company.
