I have been renting an apartment from York Properties for almost three years. The actual quality of the apartments is wonderful and, if any issue should arise, the maintenance folks, immediately address the issue. The office folks are also very friendly and incredibly helpful. I should also add that while my apartment is right on the downtown mall, the apartment is very quiet. It's sort of the best of both worlds. I have - and will continue - to recommend York Place to anyone I know moving to Charlottesville or just looking for a great place to live.

I was hesitant to write this, concerned about potential repercussions, as my confidence in the integrity of this leasing agency is non-existent. Let me begin by highlighting the favorable aspects of this apartment: its competitive pricing and convenient location are undeniable advantages. Additionally, I must commend the responsiveness of the maintenance team, who promptly addressed my requests on two separate occasions. It is these positives that prevent me from assigning a mere one-star rating. However, if you desire a leasing agency that prioritizes your overall well-being and health, this apartment building/leasing agency falls short. Throughout my time here, the persistent issue of smoking within the supposedly "Smoke free" building has been a significant concern. Despite the property management's dissemination of multiple reminders about the smoking policy, the problem persisted, till it eventually entered my apartment. As someone with asthma and other respiratory conditions, I felt compelled to raise this issue with the leasing agency. While York Properties did send out several emails regarding the smoking policy before my intervention, no substantial action followed. When I reached out to express my concerns and request release from my lease without penalties due to the adverse effects on my health, the response from the property manager was disappointingly devoid of empathy. I felt disregarded and insignificant, as if my well-being held no significance. Despite their failure to uphold their end of the lease agreement in ensuring a smoke-free environment, I was informed that “no special treatment” could be extended to me. I find myself obligated to adhere to the terms of the lease, despite the leasing agency's apparent disregard for my health and safety. If you seek to rent from an establishment that demonstrates little regard for your welfare, then perhaps this is the ideal location for you. However, if you value leasing from an agency with moral integrity, I implore you to explore other options.

I just started renting from York properties and have had the best experience! Everyone was super friendly and very welcoming! The maintenance people are also super quick to fixing anything in your apartment. I definitely would recommend moving here as a first time renter!

I have previously rented from York, and they were excellent property managers. I got what was presented to me, and they are quick to respond to communications and resolve maintenance requests. Better yet, they're kind real people. I have not rented from them for over a year and half and still they responded to my recent request to provide rental verification for an application for a new lease at a property they don't manage. They did so with a sense of urgency and offered to help with anything else needed in my effort to re-home my family after a fire at our current home (not their property).

I really do enjoy living here. The convenience is nice and maintenance is responsive when you need them. The only thing that bothers me is that the property owners wont invest in an elevator. It's not handicap accessible at all for my grandmother.

The folks here are very proficient at fixing any issues that may occur. They have been great at communicating and responding in a timely manner. George is Johnny on the spot with repairs and really is just a nice guy. Give him a raise.
